Ignited Discovery innovates with HPC Grid Solutions
Client
Ignited Discovery
UVision provides high performance, workflow productivity, customer management, and content management solutions to help Ignited Discovery grow and better handle larger projects.
Problem
Reliance upon proprietary third-party EDD tools and products limited the throughput of EDD processing that Ignited was capable of performing concurrently. To plan for increased capabilities and growth, Ignited Discovery chose UVision to help define, design and implement a grid computing infrastructure and software to leverage and "gridify" existing third-party EDD tools on heterogeneous computing resource pools.
In addition, legacy ESI formats and bleeding edge innovations were a concern for Ignited and the EDD industry in general as backwards compatibility for older formats is a cause for concern when discovering new data for legal evidence. New innovations in ESI, such as file version control repositories, require constant due diligence and staying up to date with new techniques for processing ESI.
Achieving critical mass in the EDD space also requires significant overhead in order to maintain a IT infrastructure to handle the ever-increasing amount of information that the modern age produces on a daily basis.
Solution
UVision first worked closely with Guggan Datta, from Ignited Discovery, to understand business goals, challenges and factors that affect business performance. This briefing led UVision to propose a new EDD architecture that tied the grid computing infrastructure into a comprehensive case manager, job controller, CRM system and finally a customer portal in an effort to perform business process optimization and provide productivity enhancements for employees and a valuable evidence review platform to Ignited's clients.
By acquiring inexpensive pre-owned blade array server cluster technology and allocating automated, scheduled computing time from existing office computers and servers, Ignited has planned for scaled growth that fits their budget and still allows for agility. UVision also recommended using open source grid framework technology, GridGain, along with other EDD processing tools from various vendors to help distribute all needed EDD tasks. The EDD XML spec was also adopted and supported by Ignited Discovery as UVision found the young standard for EDD data interchange a powerful solution for working with mixed EDD vendor tools and heterogeneous enterprise architectures.
Value
Ignited Discovery looks forward to significant growth in the next years as they enter other regional markets and compete in the litigation industry with their new custom EDD architecture designed by UVision.
