NOAA deploys VolunteerNET enterprise volunteer activity solution

Client

National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration

UVision has developed several web-based technology solutions for the NOAA and NMS Programs including a conference registration and abstract submission application and a customized version of one of our web applications, VolunteerNet. VolunteerNet is a scalable, enterprise-level volunteer program management web application specifically designed to handle mass volunteer activity.

Problem

In 2004, NOAA's National Marine Sanctuaries Program (NMSP) had volunteer programs from the public willing to devote their free time to helping causes related to the National Marine Sanctuaries and other related initiatives. Managing the mass amount of volunteers had previously been done separately by each sanctuary. Principals of NOAA wanted to tie in the volunteer programs of all sanctuaries into one cohesive architecture so that executives and regional managers could create volunteer loyalty award programs, activity reports and allocation reports to further foster the growth of volunteer efforts underway.

Solution

In conjunction with NMSP, NOAA selected UVision VolunteerNET, a robust and scalable enterprise web application product, designed for managing and tracking the performance of volunteer activity across all national marine sanctuaries. NOAA recognized that UVision's solution fit most of the requirements required by NOAA. Along with privacy and security measures to protect volunteer data, UVision customized the VolunteerNET application for NOAA to be deployed at NOAA IT data centers.

Value

Since 2004, UVision continues to support enhancements and maintenance to the NOAA VolunteerNET application which has helped to create a solid nation-wide volunteer management program with the ability to find, allocate and respond to initiatives pushed by NOAA and related organizations.
